Oh boy where to i begin i got lazy, lost sight of the goal, saw less films compared to the first year and already a month behind start of the 3rd. dark clouds loom over this task but you know what they say about clouds the (clique) lining, i will be finding it hopefully, probably.
here it is one of the if not the greatest film ever made, sheeesh just thinking of speaking about this film just after that so called review of film Vertigo i sure have made it hard for me. like a great works not of era the way i came to know of this film was first through the various references scattered in all pop culture media movies to cartoon.
the simplest jist of the film is about the last ambiguous words ‘Rosebud‘ of a publishing tycoon Charles Foster Kane (Orson Welles), reporters try to uncover its significance and this leads to many points of the man’s life being showcased to us.
one thing that stood out to me all the while i watched the film was i hardly ever felt that this film was made in the forties, the various camera shots and effects and techniques that comprise the film feel so commonly used nowadays, i cant say much about how people might have felt when the first watched it i reckon it felt just a tad bit different to everyone from what all they had experience it no wonder this film was able to move the critics but to the masses that bit difference need time to realised for its value. as we become to normalised to various innovations it really important to member and appreciate the wonder and efforts of the pioneers.
lets start with the narrative style by keeping the disjointed mannerism of showcasing the various life points of our protagonist Mr. Kane we are slowly allowed to unravel and understand the person here the camera angle and techniques come into play that allow the film to always keeps everything in focus for us viewer to understand from scenes the mood the tone etc.
just like vertigo i can fell why many would call it great and unlike vertigo my experience was Citizen kane was more refreshing than i had thought, the non linear ish story, a quasi biographical narrative and various camera angles. all the while this small nag behind my mind that its hard to think this film was made by someone my age in the 1940s and the fact this was his first film, a film that has been called the greatest film i wont lie i kinda feel intimidated.
young adulthood is the point of our lives that are most remembered to us for the memories we make and the effect the have in shaping our lives, and such the journey and the companions are also among the most cherished.
the story follows the Industrial tour of by the second year students of a engineering collage, as they make plans to tour the lands of Hampi and Goa. we get into this story with the introduction to the 4 boys of the story, Varun the boy scout, Kuppi the goofball, Gautham the fake rockstar and Akshay the hopeless romantic the one that propelles the story a coming a age story for our protagonist as the go through the trials of friendships and love. it is a common knowledge in the college that the greatest relationships are formed during the Tours and such this one gets planned by the boys such to help all the guys and gals. especially Akshay who is in love with Dia, to whom he has not even talked to before. and that is something his friends are eager to help him with fir there own amusement and for possible help for him.
now the movie is definitely a cliques fest with not much that would feel overly unique with aspects of nostalgia being show to you in a forced manner yet to me the movie was genuine fun to watch maybe its the hopeless romantic part of me. but give me nostalgia and i gobble it up.
the good points of the movie is the cinematography that showcases a beautiful landscape and scene also the interactions between the groups, but where the things wherent so alright was the story leaned on the romance potion a bit to heavily towards the end which kinda made the first half friendship theme take a back seat thus the resolution to the theme was a bit underdeveloped to me.
this is not a good movie and being honest here the only reason i watched it was fir the 2 lead actresses Kate Upton and Alexandra Daddario.
the story is about two best friends Meg and Kate (Kate Upton and Alexandra Daddario) after a bad day decide on a spontaneous trip for self discovery too solve their problems, Meg is a outdooris free spirited girl while Kate is a reclused shy girl but both have their wild side and this side comes out when during their flight they meet a handsome man by the name Ryan (Matt Barr). as it becomes evident that both are eyeing the same man they try their hardest to leave a impression on him. this is when a great chance is presented to them in the order of a hurricane than grounds their flight thus allowing them to meet and interact more, but this only increases the competition between the girls who now are fighting with nothing held back to the point of breaking their friendship.
it is just a chick flick trying to showcase the concept of friendship between two girls getting tested because of a guy. the only reason for the recommend would be for the Cast, i dont think there is any other to watch.
people always seek better life for themselves and their family, some do it for something they desire but sometimes even doing so becomes so hard people decide take up drastic measures.
A Malayalam Adventure movie about a communist boy Aji Mathew (Dulquer Salmaan) who in his college falls for a junior Sarah Mary Kurian (Karthika Muraleedharan), he is a homeland loving hard core communist while she is a more upbeat NRI type girl. their love for each other blossoms at first sight, but due to some unexpected incidents Sarah is taken back to america here she came from for her marriage that was decided by her family. She calls up Aji and tells him to Come to america for her to convince her parents as she doesn’t want to marry and loves him. this makes Aji try to get to america but unfortunately unable to get visa makes him take a drastic decision to get into america the illegal way. this is the journey that the story is about crossing multiple borders Aji makes it to mexico from here its a long trek to cross the border with him are many fellow humans who yearn for a better life across the border some wanting to visit family or loved ones. Along the way they get ditched by their guide, run into people trying to kill them they survive but start to dwindle in hope and number. they are finally caught but manage to escape Aji makes a run for it and is finally in American. he goes to his contact in america to settle down. its here he gets to know that Sarah never thought a Homeland loving boy like Aji would ever come to america anyway and only called to reassure her position to him, and had accepted the marriage already. This Gives Aji a shock but he realises that the journey to reach was more valuable to him than Sarah now and he is thankful to her for this and leaves to get back to Kerala.
the movies shows the troubles people go though in life and the things people and ready to do for the hope alone for the better life across the border. the struggles people face while they cross such a dangerous path where only their hope drives them.
i wouldn’t recommend this movie honestly not a bad movie but it didnt hit any notes with me, A can see tag and a rating of 5/10.
like i always say 2008 was a year of a lot of good movies, and this one follows the trend. A movie that showcases the aftermath of a relationship after a horrible secret is out.
the story follows a lawyer (Ralph Fiennes) who reminisce about his younger days, when he as a young boy (David Kross) meet his first love by random chance, this middle aged lady (Kate Winslet) he meet helped in out. this lead to him and her meeting again and them starting to have feeling for each other. she loved to hear him read out storys from novels to her, and this became there thing. now this 15 year old boy was experiencing his first love and was head over heels about her. until one day she suddenly vanishes. the boy pursues law, one day when visiting a court preceding for the Nazi war criminals he see his first love standing in the defenders stand, and reality strikes him. this causes him to feel spilt about her and conflicted to help her when she takes the full blame of the charges even though by holding back information that proves her innocence. thus she gets sentenced to jail, as a grown up the lawyer feels guilty and as repentance starts sending her voice recording of him reading the stories to her. they meet each other after nearly 20 years, but his conflicting feelings about her causes him to distant him from her. which leads to her committing suicide.
the acting is nicely done in this movie, Kate winslet was really good in this movie and played her character brilliantly. the movie does dwell in to the aspect of the atrocities by the Nazi and how only certain people were being held responsible just to pass the blame on to certain people. how the proceedings were just a way to get someone to take the blame and wrap everything up.
this is a good movie, a recommend to those who are into such a story-line which dwells onto the characters choices and conflicting desires. a rating of 7/10.
got to love the masala films, those days when you so bored and burned out when you just need some film to consume while keeping your mind blank give masala film a try.
Baaghi revolves around the journey of a rebel boy (Tiger Shroff) learning the art of martial arts to hone his skills and learn discipline. while he is in training he falls in love with up an coming actress (Shraddha Kapoor) and so does the martial arts masters son (Sudheer Babu Posani). the son kills his father as he was against his son forcing the girl to marry him. this all leads to the protagonist into trying to take revenge for his master and rescue his girl……….. honestly a plot line seen multiple time in one form or other.
I would recommend this movie only to those lost souls who have the brains numbed due to better movies and are in need some simple easy to consume movie where u don’t need your brain.
now I do accept the action martial arts scene in this movie is much better choreographed that most Indian films. and Tiger Shroff really did a good job in these scenes, but the story by itself just wasn’t fun enough. but this movie has spawned a franchise with the 3rd part in the makes so hope that be some improvement there.
